Line
Complete automatic nut manufacturing lines — drilling, chamfering and tapping integrated in a single automated flow. From blank nut to finished threaded nut, fully unattended. Custom-built to your specifications. Free engineering design.
Blank Nut to Finished Thread —
One Automated Line
Every nut on your production line passes through three core operations. Slugger Tools designs and builds all three machines, plus the connecting conveyors and transfer systems, as a single integrated line. One line. One control system. Zero manual handling between stations.
Vibratory bowl feeder sorts and orients blank nuts automatically from bulk hopper

Integrated Line vs
Separate Machines
60–80% Labour Reduction
Separate machines need an operator at each station to transfer nuts between operations. An integrated line transfers nuts automatically — one operator monitors the whole line, not three separate machines.
Zero Work-In-Progress
No trays of partly-finished nuts sitting between machines waiting for the next operation. Nuts flow continuously from station to station — dramatically reducing floor space and inventory.
Consistent Quality
Every nut goes through drilling, chamfering and tapping in exactly the same sequence and conditions. No variation from manual handling, no missing operations, no wrongly-orientated nuts.
Single Control System
One HMI touchscreen shows production count, cycle rate, fault status and OEE for all three stations simultaneously. One engineering contact for all machine support and tooling supply.
Lower Capital Cost
A purpose-designed integrated line typically costs 15–25% less than three separate standalone machines because the engineering, control system and material handling are shared across all stations.
Faster ROI
Lower labour cost, higher throughput, less floor space, and lower capital cost combine to deliver return on investment typically within 12–24 months for medium to high-volume nut production.

Complete Buyer’s Guide
What Is a Nut Production Line?
A nut production line is an automated manufacturing system that processes blank nuts through all secondary operations — drilling the pilot hole, chamfering both faces for thread lead-in, and tapping the internal thread — in a continuous automated flow. The line starts with bulk blank nuts (cold-headed or hot-forged) and outputs finished, threaded nuts ready for quality inspection and surface finishing.
What Operations Does Nut Manufacturing Require?
After cold heading or hot forging, a hex nut blank requires: (1) Drilling — the pilot hole is drilled to the tap drill diameter (for M8, this is 6.8mm for 75% thread engagement); (2) Chamfering — both faces of the nut are chamfered to create the thread lead-in and the characteristic nut face profile; (3) Tapping — the internal thread is cut using a CNC-controlled automatic tapping machine. Additional downstream operations may include thread gauging, washing, phosphating, zinc plating, and passivation.
Hex Nut Standards and Thread Specifications
ISO metric hex nuts follow DIN 934 / ISO 4032 (standard height) and DIN 439 / ISO 4035 (thin/jam nuts). Thread specification follows ISO 965 6H tolerance class. UNC hex nuts follow ASME B18.2.2 with 2B thread class. All Slugger Tools nut production lines can be configured for any of these standards, and for BSP pipe thread nuts, left-hand threads, and fine-pitch thread variants on request.
How to Specify a Nut Production Line
To receive an accurate quotation, provide: (1) Nut type and standard (e.g. DIN 934 M8 hex nut); (2) Blank nut drawing or dimensions (AF, height, bore diameter before drilling); (3) Material and hardness (carbon steel, stainless 304/316, brass); (4) Target production rate (pcs/hr); (5) Available floor space (length × width in metres); (6) Power supply (voltage, single or 3-phase, frequency); (7) Annual production volume. Send this information to Slugger Tools for a free engineering assessment within 5 working days.
Nut Tapping Machine: Selecting the Right Tap Grade
Tap grade selection is critical for high-speed nut production. For carbon steel nuts: M2 HSS spiral point taps run at 15–25 m/min. For stainless steel nuts: M35 or M42 cobalt taps at 8–14 m/min with sulphurised cutting oil. For aluminium nuts: M2 HSS or M35 cobalt forming taps at 30–50 m/min. Slugger Tools supplies all tap grades from our own HSS tap manufacturing division — tooling supply is guaranteed for the life of your machine.
CE Certification for Nut Production Line Export
Nut production lines exported to the European Union, UK, and many other markets require CE marking under the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. All Slugger Tools production lines are designed to CE-compatible guarding, electrical, and safety standards as standard. Full CE certification with technical construction file and Declaration of Conformity is available on request, typically adding 2–3 weeks to lead time.
